During 2023, the number of guests visiting Međimurje County rose 8% to 95,654 and their overnight stays increased 6% to 221,103, compared to 2022, county authorities said at a news conference in Čakovec on Monday.
Croatians made up a majority of the visitors, 51,553, and they made 107,000 overnight stays.
Slovenians rank second, and are followed by Poles and Germans, the head of the county's tourist board, Rudi Grula, said.
The most attractive destination in this county was Sveti Martin na Muri with 61,000 guests and 147,000 nights.
County Prefect Matija Posavec expressed satisfaction with those numbers as well as with a 77% increase in investments in accommodation capacities.
The tourist trade accounts for 3% of the county's revenues, said Grula.
