The 11th international tourism fair Place2Go began at Zagreb's Arena Hall on Thursday, bringing together 200 domestic and foreign exhibitors.
The fair, which is organised by the Place2Go company, under the auspices of the Tourism Ministry, the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ), the Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK) and the City of Zagreb, runs through 20 January.
Foreign exhibitors are from 14 countries including China, India, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Serbia and some other European countries.
Gordana Cvetković of the Serbian tourist board told Hina that Serbia registered 97,000 Croatian visitors who made about 200,000 overnight stays in the first 11 months of 2023. Croatia is the ninth inbound market for Serbia's tourism industry.
The fair was officially opened by Tourism Ministry State Secretary Josip Pavić, who commented on some of the problems bothering the tourism and hospitality sector such as the shortage of skilled workforce.
He said that Croatia would continue issuing work permits to foreign workers to address the issue.
