The Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ) has been elected to the UN World Tourism Organization's Board of the Affiliate Members for the period 2022-25, the HTZ said earlier this week, calling this a big international success.
This is the first time the HTZ is a member of the UNWTO board, which comprises 23 members and acts as an advisory body to the UNWTO secretary-general.
This membership is a big recognition and confirmation of Croatia's increasingly good position on the global tourism map, the HTZ said, adding that it will enable the HTZ to contribute even more strongly to new development polices and strategies on the global level as well as to work on achieving UNWTO's goals, HTZ director Kristjan Staničić said.
The main functions of the Board of the Affiliate Members are the integration and contribution of the members to the goals, mission and the general programme of work of UNWTO, leading to the development of a sustainable, responsible and more competitive global tourism.
