The vaccination of 70,000 Croatian tourism workers, both full-time and seasonal, against COVID-19 starts in mid-April, Tourism and Sport Minister Nikolina Brnjac agreed with Croatian Public Health Institute officials at a meeting on Friday.
Also discussed was a plan to vaccinate 90,000 private accommodation providers as soon as possible, in accordance with the vaccination priorities for the tourism sector, the ministry said in a statement.
Tourism workers will be divided into two priority groups: one covering staff who come into greater contact with guests and other staff, and the other including employees who do not come into contact with many people, such as office workers.
Minister Brnjac noted that Croatia would be among the first countries to start vaccinating tourism workers.
"This is very important to us so that we can position ourselves as a safe destination. Together with the Stay Safe in Croatia project, this will be an additional guarantee to tourists that Croatia meets all the prerequisites for safe summer holidays," Brnjac said.
The meeting also focused on establishing additional testing sites in tourist resorts, hotels, campsites and marinas, training of testing staff, distribution of test kits and issuing of vaccination certificates. (Hina)
