Croatia is currently the second most sought-after holiday destination on the Austrian market, the Croatian Tourism Board (HTZ) said in a statement on Monday, citing booking figures for 2021 provided by TUI, one of the world's largest tourism and travel companies.
"The TUI survey confirms previous analyses and assessments showing that Croatia is one of the most sought-after foreign destinations for Austrians. Our optimism is also based on TUI's assessment that coronavirus vaccination and improved testing possibilities give travellers a greater sense of safety, which also has a positive impact on travel demand," the director of the HTZ Vienna Office, Branimir Tončinić, was quoted as saying.
He said that TUI was expecting a further business recovery in the weeks ahead.
The booking figures provided by TUI Austria show that Greece is currently the most sought-after summer destination for 2021, ahead of Croatia, Italy, Spain and Turkey. Generally, Italy and Croatia are Austrians' favourite foreign travel destinations.
