Croatia top destination for Austrian tourists in 2021

Croatia is the top destination for Austrian travellers in 2021, according to the findings of a survey conducted by Gruber Reisen, a leading Austrian tour operator, the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) said on Tuesday.

The results of the "Barometer of travel in 2021", conducted by Gruber Reisen, shows that Croatia is a leading and most sought after destination on the Austrian market, said Branimir Tončinić, Director of the HTZ Representative Office in Austria. According to the survey results, Croatia leads with a share of 36%, followed by Austria with 33%, Greece with 30%, Italy with 28%  and Spain with 15%.

The survey results were also reported in the popular Traveller Online magazine which proves that demand for travel is still strong in Austria and that 23% of respondents have already booked their travel plans for this year. Also, 73% will book their trips when travel conditions are met. Only 2% indicated that they would stay at home this year due to the corona virus and their own sense of insecurity.

"When booking a trip, consumers pay special attention to safety in their desired destination, and the possibility of free change of booking or other cancellation possibilities at minimal cost is very important to them," Tončinić was quoted as saying.

"The most preferred activity during the trip is a beach holiday, which was indicated by 58% of respondents, and the share of city breaks, cruises and wellness are becoming increasingly interesting. When it comes to the number of trips during the year, 39% want to go on holiday twice a year, and when it comes to the average duration of a holiday trip, 47% chose trips of up to a week, while 45% expressed interest in two-week trips," the HTZ says in its press release..

"These are excellent indicators on one of our most important markets, Austria. This is due, amongst other things, to the continuous promotional activities we conduct on key international markets, which aim to position our country as a diverse, safe, quality and well-prepared tourist destination," said the Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board Kristjan Staničić, was quoted as saying. (Hina)
