Cappelli: There'll be no discussion with those fixing receipts

Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli said on Thursday that there would be no discussion with restaurant owners allegedly fixing their receipts to get state aid, but added that this had to be checked.

Asked to comment on the announcement by Finance Minister Zdravko Maric that they would carry out checks on restaurant owners adjusting their receipts in order to get state aid, Cappelli said ahead of a government session that "we know how to deal with them, including fines and everything else that needs to be done in line with the law."

"There will be no discussion with those not issuing receipts. As for everything else, those little things that they need to take care of, epidemiologically and otherwise, in their establishments, they will be warned to do them as soon as possible; as for the amount and the number of receipts, we have to look into that because it is very hard to compare last year with this one," Cappelli said.

He said that the data on issued receipts and revenue also included receipts issued by hoteliers who had not worked from March to now, so this also needs to be taken into account when talking about the number of receipts issued and the amount of revenue, because "surely the amounts on receipts are higher if those for hotel accommodation are included."

Asked whether the situation with restaurant owners' receipts was suspicious to him, he added that the matter still had to be looked into.
