Over 40,000 guests visited the town of Bjelovar, 70 kilometres east of Zagreb, on Saturday and Sunday on the occasion of the annual Terezijana festivities in memory to Habsburg Empress Maria Theresa during whose rule in the 18th century that settlement was developed into an urban centre.
This year's programme included the reenactment of the arrival of the empress in that town, featuring 350 costumed actors plus an equestrian regiment.
The audience could enjoy concerts, and other open-air shows in the streets of this city with a 42,000-strong population.
Typical meals of the local cuisine were also offered to visitors.
Mayor Dario Habek said that the programmes for the Terezijana activities were enriched from year to year. (Hina)
