The peak tourism season could be at the level of last year's while turnover by the end of the year could be up by three percent compared to last year, Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli said at a meeting of Istria hoteliers in Rovinj on Tuesday, the ministry said in a press release. Cappelli met with executives of the hotel industry and camping sites and discussed the situation with bookings for the summer season and tourism results to date, current issues relating to new legislation that concerns the hotel industry and tourism business in general as well as the situation with the labour force and possibilities of long term solutions to ensure additional qualified staff in tourism and hospitality.

Presenting the results in tourism so far this year, it was underscored that 1.4 million arrivals and 3.2 million overnight stays were recorded in hotel accommodation by the end of April which is a 10% increase in arrivals and a 5% increase in bed nights year-on-year.
