ACI marina worth HRK 150 mn opens in Rovinj

A new ACI marina worth HRK 150 million, the greatest investment ever by the Adriatic Croatian International Club known as ACI, was formally opened in the northern coastal town of Rovinj on Friday. The marina has a five-anchor rating and was opened by Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic with several government ministers present at the ceremony. The Rovinj ACI marina is also one of the largest for the nautical tourism sector in Croatia and is located immediately next to the recently opened Grand Park Hotel, the most luxurious facility in this part of the Adriatic.

The marina consists of two basins - one for boats in transit and the other for boats on annual berths. There are a total of 196 berths intended for boats of an average length of 17 metres, while vessels in transit can be up to 35 metres in length.

"This will certainly give an additional impulse to strengthening tourism in Istria, which is one of the pillars of Croatian tourism. Today we were informed of the progress of the work on the Istrian Y-motorway, which shows how important Istria is to us," Plenkovic said.

Plenkovic noted that Istria is the county where his government has granted the most state property to local government. "This reflects our desire to continue dialogue and cooperation with partners in all the counties, cities and municipalities," he added.

Expressing his pride about the marina, Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli said that this is a "concentration of great value for Croatian tourism," adding that it shows that Croatia can achieve good results.

ACI's president of the management board, Kristijan Pavic, and Rovinj mayor Marko Pagliaga said that two large investments - the new Maistra hotel and the new marina have significantly raised the quality of Rovinj's tourism standard.

The reconstruction of the Rovinj marina, which was built in 1984, began in April 2017 and the only thing that was not changed are the dimensions set by the concession contract, whereas everything else was built anew.

The visual identity has been completely transformed, and the concept of the marina – as a significant step forward in terms of standards in nautical tourism, the amenities the marina provides and services it offers to boaters – is infused with exclusiveness in every detail, which, considering the remarkable tourist boom Rovinj has seen in the last ten years or so, is what the city needs and deserves.

The marina has 1,400 m2 of commercial space, catering facilities, restaurants and a cafe-lounge bar, a supermarket, shops offering world-famous brands, offices of reputable luxury yacht brokers, charter agencies, a service centre for boats and so on. Clients will have at their disposal 100 parking spaces in the garage, with 50 more in the marina itself.
