The European Travel Commission (ETC) has approved funding for Croatia's and Slovenia's tourist boards for a joint promotional campaign in China under the slogan "Experience Croatia, Feel Slovenia", valued at more than 200,000, half of which will be provided by ETC, Croatia's tourist board (HTZ) said on Tuesday.
This is the first such funding to be approved to promote Europe, including Croatia and Slovenia, on the Chinese market.
The "Experience Croatia, Feel Slovenia" campaign by the two countries' tourist boards on faraway markets has been ongoing for the past five years and, in China, it is aimed at strengthening the two countries' visibility and attracting a larger number of Chinese tourists.
Activities as part of the campaign will run from October 2018 to March 2019 and will include joint workshops in Beijing and Shanghai, online training for Chinese tour operators and travel agencies, and media advertising.
"This is confirmation of the long standing and high quality cooperation with our Slovenian colleagues in promoting our countries on distant markets," HTZ director-general Kristjan Stanicic said.
"The Chinese market is growing rapidly and projections indicate that there will be more than 100 million Chinese tourists travelling in 2020," Stanicic said and added that so far this year 136,000 Chinese tourists have visited Croatia, generating 203,000 bed nights, up 36% on the year.
The director of Slovenia's tourist board, Maja Pak, too expressed satisfaction with the cooperation between the two tourist boards and their joint promotion in China.
