Dubrovnik has been voted best cruising destination in the Eastern Mediterranean for the second year in a row by Cruise Critic, the website specialising in cruise travel. "Judging by overnight stays throughout the year, Dubrovnik is the most popular Croatian tourist destination, which generated more than four million tourist nights last year alone. This city has also been the most in-demand destination so far this year, with more than two million overnight stays recorded," Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ) director Kristjan Stanicic said.
"This recognition confirms the outstanding international popularity of Dubrovnik, which largely contributes to the image of Croatia as a tourist destination," he added.
Kotor, Venice, Santorini and Rhodes were also mentioned in this category.
The HTZ said that so far this year Croatia has recorded 9.8 million tourist arrivals and 47 million overnight stays, an increase of 6 percent in both arrivals and overnight stays compared with the same period last year. Dubrovnik has registered over 650,000 arrivals (+7%) and 2.2 million overnight stays (+5%).
Established in 1995 by The Independent Traveller, a branch of Trip Advisor, Cruise Critic serves as the focal point for the exchange of information on cruise trips. (Hina)
