Croatia promotes tourist trade at Munich travel show

The Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ) is promoting the Croatian tourist trade at the most important Bavarian travel and leisure fair, f.re.e, in Munich this week, the HTZ said on Friday. "Croatia is one of the favourite destinations for Bavarians and this year we expect about five percent more tourists from this German region. We are also increasing our promotional activities across Germany," HTZ director Kristjan Stanicic said.

Since Croatia is increasingly focusing on year-round tourism, Stanicic stressed the importance of flight services. He said he was pleased with good connections between key Croatian and German cities all year round thanks to air carriers such as easyJet, Lufthansa, Eurowings, Ryanair and Condor.

During the fair, which closes on February 25, Stanicic has held talks with a number of German tour operators, including TUI, ID Riva Tours, Holiday Check and kroati.de, and they all expressed readiness to strengthen their partnership with the Croatian tourism sector and reported good bookings for this year.

The continental region of Slavonia has been included in promotional catalogues for the first time, and Stanicic said that German cycling lovers have already booked arrangements for the autumn.

The number of overnight stays generated by German tourists in Croatia last year increased by 15% over 2016.
