The travel website TripAdvisor and the accommodation booking website Airbnb have included two Croatian cities - Rovinj and Zagreb - on their lists of trending destinations for 2018, predicting higher tourist demand and better results than last year. Rovinj was included on TripAdvisor's list of the top 10 destinations on the rise, ranking 8th. The list is topped by Ishigaki, Japan, ahead of: Kapaa, Hawaii; Nairobi, Kenya; Halifax, Nova Scotia; Gdansk, Poland; San Jose, Costa Rica; Riga, Latvia; Rovinj, Croatia; Nerja, Spain; and Casablanca, Morocco.
Airbnb predicts that Zagreb will be among the 20 most in demand travel destinations in the world this year, with a increase in bookings of as much as 175 percent over last year. Zagreb ranked 18th, ahead of Mykonos, Greece and Mazatlan, Mexico.
Among the top 20 most in demand destinations with the highest increases in bookings for this year are five European cities, including Bournemouth, UK; Gazimagusa, Cyprus; Bilbao, Spain; and Cardiff, UK.
The top ranking is held by Gangneung, South Korea, the venue of the 2018 Winter Olympics, for which Airbnb predicts an increase in accommodation bookings of over 2,000 percent compared with last year.
