The Croatian emergency service will ensure an additional 16 ambulances along motorways and major county roads during the summer season.
Additional teams will be engaged along the busiest sections of south-bound motorways.
During last year's peak season, ambulances made 591 interventions and catered for 823 patients who were injured in accidents or got sick.
Of them, 429 patients were given aid on site and 388 had to be sent to hospitals.
Unfortunately, ten people died on accident sites, according to a press release issued by Croatian emergency service (HMS).
